COOL SHIRTS BUYING GUIDES / Animals
Choosing a cat shirt beyond the usual cat joke
Cat-themed shirts can be playful without all looking alike. The best starting point is the cat’s character: watchful, sleepy, mischievous or permanently unimpressed. Choose that mood first, then decide how much of it you want on the shirt.
Use coat color as a clue
A black-cat silhouette can work with a restrained layout, while an orange-cat illustration leaves room for warmer colors and more expressive faces. For a multicolored cat, look for a recognizable pattern rather than an exact portrait. A gift for someone with several cats may suit a whole-household theme better than a single-cat design.
Decide how visible the reference should be
A small sleeping cat at the chest gives a different impression from a full-front slogan. Think about where the shirt will be worn. A subtle graphic can sit easily under a cardigan; a larger print may be the point of a casual weekend outfit. Neither needs a familiar internet catchphrase to work.
Check the contrast
Dark artwork needs enough separation from the fabric to stay readable. Look at the mockup at a small size as well as enlarged. If the expression, whiskers or wording disappear, choose a clearer layout. Confirm the selected garment color on the product page before making a final choice.
